With hair so blonde and eyes so blue,
You were the "pretty baby."
At least that's what I heard from you;
In fact, I heard it daily.
No, never did I tire of them,
The pictures you would share.
In fact, the thought of seeing them
Still makes me shed a tear.
There are many things I'd like to say
Of the special times we shared,
Like the time you sent me to my class
With six-inch ratted hair,
Or the gentle way you told me, Dear,
In your sweet and caring way
That my parents lived at the local zoo
But you'd love me anyway.
Words can't express the depth I felt
To have you as my sister.
Much simpler to compare it to
The movie called The Twister.
Now you know this is all in jest.
You're one out of a million.
So let me take this time to say,
Happy Birthday, Lillian!
Love, Sis

Nellie
When I reflect on the love that's been shown
By this woman of eighty years,
I marvel at this second mother of mine
And it often brings me to tears.
She has made me feel like a child of hers
Even though she had four of her own.
A more caring and thoughtful woman of God
The world has never known.
I'll never forget her kindnesses to me
In taking me to the fair,
In making me feel at home with her
And the goodies she would share.
One of her four is my dearest friend,
And grateful I always will be
For the times we've shared, the good and the bad,
Her Gina is special to me.
My Nellie has suffered through trials untold,
With losses that most couldn't bear,
But her courage and trust in the Lord above
Have shown me how much she cares.
I'll close this for now, but much more I could say
Of this woman who to me is so dear.
She knows that I love her and wouldn't miss this chance
To say "Happy Birthday" in her eightieth year.
With Love From Your Second Daughter

"special words for special people"
As we celebrate your birthday and
Tonight your friends abound,
You need no introduction here –
By now your name’s renowned.
For your work around the Hamlet and
Our homes that line its borders,
And the timely way that you complete
Those oh so expensive change orders!
And the way that you eliminate
That ever pesky mold.
Your abilities impress us still
Even though you’re getting old!
But this entrance that you’re building still?
Let’s hope that you defy
The odds and finish before my trip
To that golf course in the sky!
Speaking of golf, your game’s not bad,
Though I’ve words for you tonight;
You’ve reached that age at which you should
Consider playing the white!
And by the way, the Marlins called –
They need your help this year.
Your voice will rise above the crowd:
“Get your Hot dogs! Peanuts! Beer!”
Paper no longer available.
So here’s to reaching 60, my friend,
I raise my glass to you,
And for now just pray that one day I’ll play
Those elusive tees of blue!
Happy 60th Birthday,
Your Friend, Ted
